Sub-Project 3: The Establishment of a Digital Archives Union Catalog System

Window to Abundant Digitally Archived Holdings

The Digital Archives Union Catalog is a catalog-displaying platform established by the National Digital Archives Program that provides for the exploration and search of digitally archived holdings nation-wide and displays the results of the digital archives project. Through the catalog’s single website window, the user can search nation-wide digitally archived contents from almost one hundred groups and more than ten academic fields. Not only can this provide educational research material and value-added use by industry, it is at the same time the best browsing platform for academic research, educational development and enterprise use.

Main Tasks:

  • Establish a search mechanism that can search across numerous archiving devices and information databases.
  • Establish a digital archives union catalog system that meets OAI standards.
  • Cooperate with similar foreign organizations to increase the opportunities for cooperative international exchanges.
  • Research and analyze in detail the latest relevant theories and technologies.
  • Eliminate the ‘digital gap’ and provide open learning resources and equal learning opportunities, etc.
