Foreword

In order to properly preserve and also fully utilize the nation’s valuable cultural relics and resources, the National Science Council launched the National Digital Archives Program to digitize all valuable holdings nationwide; to establish an information database; and to share, through using the characteristics of the Internet, the nation’s resources with all its citizens.

To increase the quality and quantity of digital content, the National Digital Archives Program Content Development Division is responsible for the development and creation of digital content by each participating unit, and for the revision of each standard process. Further goals include the establishment of a cross-field union catalog system; the realization of the ideal of resource sharing for all; and the use of the resulting product as the basis for education, academic research, industrial advancement and cultural development.
